2012 Spring Walking Tours
Vulcan Park and Museum’s 2012 Spring Walking Tour Series offers recent and longtime residents alike a fun, invigorating way to experience the history and architectural beauty of Birmingham’s neighborhoods and districts. As much about people as place, our walking tours invite you to step into the shoes of the architects, visionaries, socialites and entrepreneurs who sparked the magic in the Magic City. Space is limited for each tour, so mark your calendar now and make plans to join us this spring!

Grand Architecture, New Uses: The Historic Retail/Theatre District
Leaders: Philip Morris and Alice Bowsher
Difficulty Level: Medium-easy - The area we will explore is flat with ample sidewalks.
The Loft District: An Emerging Urban Quarter
Leaders: Pam King and Linda Nelson
Difficulty level: Medium - The area we will explore is mostly flat, although Morris Avenue’s cobblestone streets may present some challenges.
Slightly North of Highland: Historic Houses on Parade
Leaders: Cathy Adams and Linda Nelson
Difficulty level: Medium-challenging - Highland has some hills and challenging sidewalks.
